I do believe rustproofing is necessary where salt is used. I always used a No drip rustproofing (German made), its like resin and will stay longer on the car and wont drip much... but Krown one will go on more places as it is thinner but wont last as long. Every 2-3 years should be good enough, I do prefer no drip rustproofing over tar on drip one.
